Service to be restored by Friday
Staff report
Late Wednesday afternoon a contractor inadvertently cut the BellSouth cable near the intersection of Highway 31 and County Road 41 in Brewton. Homes and businesses south of this intersection and north along County Road 41 all the way to Interstate 65 will be out of service for up to 48 hours.
BellSouth technicians will work around the clock to restore service to the area. “Two days is a conservative estimate to restore an outage of this size and complexity. These experienced technicians should be able to beat that estimate considerably,” said Gigi Armbrecht, BellSouth spokesperson for southwest Alabama. “We will certainly make every effort get service restored in half that time.”
Customers are encouraged to be patient and use their cell phones to make calls. There is no need to report the service outage. “We regret any inconvenience this situation may cause and are doing our best to rectify the situation,” said Gigi Armbrecht, BellSouth spokesperson.
