There have not been many days this season where W.S. Neal's offense has struggled, but Monday was one of those when the Blue Eagles concluded their home season with a 9-2 loss to the Spanish Fort Toros.
W.S. Neal (15-5) was held to a season low two hits in the loss.
One of the Blue Eagles' two hits, a two-run double by Jared Cooper in the second inning, gave W.S. Neal a 2-0 lead. The only other hit for the home team was a sixth inning single by Tyler Nall.
Blue Eagles starting pitcher Whitney Qualls kept the Toros scoreless during his three innings of work, but Spanish Fort tied the game with a pair of runs off reliever Josey Brown in the top of the fourth inning. Spanish Fort scored two more runs in the fifth inning off Brown to take a 4-2 lead, and tacked on five more against reliever James Freeman in the seventh inning to pull away
W.S. Neal was supposed to have played at J.U. Blacksher Tuesday, but that game was cancelled. The Blue Eagles open up play at the Escambia County Tournament at T.R. Miller Thursday where they will face Flomaton at 6 p.m. W.S. Neal will take on the host Tigers Friday at 6 p.m. The Blue Eagles will conclude play Saturday when they play Escambia County at 2 p.m.
