Thursday, Sept. 6: That was the last time the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger volleyball team was over the .500-winning percentage. Thursday night at home on Senior Night, the Lady Tigers swept Andalusia and Excel to get back to a winning record as they improved to 8-7 overall.
T.R. Miller defeated Andalusia 2-0 in their first game, winning set one 25-14 and set two 25-15. Against Excel in game two, the Lady Tigers won 2-0, winning set one 25-12 and set two 25-13.
Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said he thought his team played extremely well in both games Thursday.
“We had our advantage at the net again and we really used it to our advantage and we really hit the ball well,” White said. “We are starting to play together as a team a lot better and everybody is starting to accept their roles. Everything is starting to get a little flow to it and we have definitely improved the last three weeks from where we were.”
White said his five seniors have done a great job and bought into what they are trying to do.
“Lauren Ward, Lauren Bradley, Laurel Billy, Takeysia McFugerson and Audrey Hamric all play different and they all handle their roles and their roles are different,” White said. “That is what we have to have to have any kind of success. They have been a fun bunch and I am going to miss them, but I appreciate their effort over the years. It is always good to win on senior night.”
T.R. Miller will be back in action Saturday in the Escambia County Tournament at JDCC.

TRM 2, Andalusia 0
Leading T.R. Miller in the 2-0 win over Andalusia was Krystal Bell.
Bell led the Lady Tigers with eight service points, two aces and one kill. Abbi Roberts had six service points and one ace.
In set two, Roberts led with five service points and one kill. Bradley led with four kills in the win.

TRM 2, Excel 0
In their game against Excel, T.R. Miller won 2-0.
Lauren Ward led with six service points in set one and Billy had five service points.
In set two, Jessica Allan led with eight service points.
