Two Brewton residents were involved in an automobile crash Friday night in Okaloosa County, Fla., that has kept members of the Florida Highway Patrol busy with an investigation.

Andrew Butts, 22, and Joseph York, 23, both of Brewton were injured at around 10:30 p.m. when the truck the two were in crashed on County Road 180 just north of Charles Booker Road.

According to a report by FHP officers, Butts was driving a vehicle along the roadway when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve. Officers reported Butts drove onto the south shoulder of the roadway where he lost control of the vehicle that began spinning out of control. The passenger side of the vehicle was propelled into group of trees before coming to rest.

Emergency personnel transported York to Sacred Heart Pensacola where he was listed in guarded condition Saturday. Butts was transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center with minor injuries.

Pending the results of the FHP investigation, charges may be filed in the incident.
