A Brewton man has been arrested on drug charges after drug task force officers said they found cocaine at his residence late last week.
Robert Petro Curry, Jr., 32, of 39796 U.S. 31 North in Brewton, was arrested Aug. 3 by agents with the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force. A second address shown as a residence for Curry is 2012 Ridge Road, according to a report from the Escambia County Sheriff's office. Assisting in the arrest were officers from the Brewton Police, East Brewton Police and Flomaton Police departments.
After searching the residence, agents recovered crack cocaine and marijuana, said Keith Hutchins of the task force.
Curry faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance - crack cocaine; unlawful possession of marijuana; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
A consolidated bond of $10,000 was set for Curry in connection with the charges. Curry also had a warrant for violation of parole, Hutchins said.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police, East Brewton Police, Brewton Police, Flomaton Police departments, the Escambia County District Attorney's office and the Escambia County Commission.
The Task Force receives 50 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United States Department of Justice. The grant is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
The remainder of the funding for the group is provided by the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police and Brewton Police departments and the Escambia County District Attorney's office.
