Amedisys, Inc. announced today that Amedisys Home Health Care of Brewton exhibits outstanding quality in six out of ten of the quality indicators, when compared to all other home care providers in the state of Alabama.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services developed a mechanism to measure outcomes, also known as quality indicators, from the time of admission to discharge from the home care agency.
CMS currently publicly reports ten of these quality indicators on the Web site www.medicare.gov in an effort to further focus the quality improvement efforts of the home health industry.
The measures (all collected via the OASIS data set) are: improvement in bathing, improvement in transferring, improvement in management of oral medication, improvement in pain interring with activity, acute care hospitalization, emergent care, discharge to community, improvement in dyspnea (shortness of breath), and improvement in urinary incontinence.
Amedisys is a leading provider of home health care nursing services.
The company operates sites across 17 southern, southeastern and mid-atlantic states.
In 1994, the company became public and currently trades on The Nasdaq Market under the symbol “AMED.”
