This was one record Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball coach Misti Nims was glad to see broken.
JDCC sent its fourth and fifth sophomore member from last spring's team to the four-year level with the signings of pitcher Nikki Madden and third baseman/catcher Stacy Sanders.
Madden, a native of Crestview, Fla., will be taking her skills to the University of Mobile. The righthander was an All-Region 22 and Alabama Community College Conference South Division First Team selection this spring when she went 17-18 with a 1.94 earned run average. Madden had 151 strikeouts in 252 and two-thirds innings. Madden also contributed a .336 batting average with two doubles, four triples and 19 RBIs.
Madden is headed to a University of Mobile program that captured the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championship this spring.
Sanders, a native of Hazel Green, is headed to Miles College in Birmingham. Teammate Makeyia Burt signed with Miles last month. Sanders batted .254 with six doubles, one homer and 22 RBIs in split duty behind the plate and third base.
