Less than a week after playing each other in Brewton, the Brewton Middle School basketball teams and the W.S. Neal Middle School teams hooked up again Tuesday in East Brewton and the two teams battled to the same results as they did last Tuesday night in Brewton—a win for the Brewton Middle School girls and a win for the W.S. Neal Middle School boys.
The Lady Tigers of Brewton improved to 3-0 as they defeated the Lady Eagles of East Brewton 27-16. With the loss, W.S. Neal Middle School fell to 0-2.
In boys action, W.S. Neal Middle School improved to 2-0 with a 27-14 win over the 0-3 Tigers.
Brewton’s teams were set to be back in action Thursday at Andalusia. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
Brewton will play at McCall Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. before returning home on Thursday, Nov. 29 against Lyeffion at 5 p.m. Brewton’s game against Repton on Nov. 15 has been cancelled.
W.S. Neal is scheduled to play at Flomaton Thursday. Game time is set for 4 p.m. W.S. Neal will have road games at McCall on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. and at Jay on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. before returning home for a three-game home stand to end the season. W.S. Neal’s next home game will be Tuesday, Dec. 4 against McCall at 1 p.m.

BMS Lady Tigers 27, WSNMS Lady Eagles 16
Trailing 15-13 with 4:42 left in the third quarter, the Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers outscored W.S. Neal 14-2 to end the game with an 11-point win, 27-16.
Brewton led W.S. Neal 6-5 after one quarter of play at 13-12 at the half after each team scored seven points.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal took a brief 15-13 lead over the Lady Tigers before Brewton scored six straight to take a 19-15 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Brewton scored eight straight points to extend their run to 14-0 and took a 27-15 lead with 2:20 left in the game. W.S. Neal’s Jashira Dees ended the Lady Tigers run with a free throw with 2:01 left to play to cut the lead to 27-16.
Neither team would score the remainder of the game as Brewton took the win to stay undefeated and keep W.S. Neal winless.
Akilah Brazile was the leading scorer in the game and for Brewton as she had 12 points. Morgan Longmire added seven in the win while Brianna Dees had four points. Destiny Watson and Steely Ruzic chipped in two points each.
For W.S. Neal, Marisha Frazier led with six points and was followed by Tia Lewis with four, Ri’Ante Askew and Kametria Lawson with two points each. Kayla Johnson and Jashira Dees both had one point each in the loss.
The Lady Tigers were 3-for-9 from the free throw line while W.S. Neal was 3-for-6.

WSNMS Eagles 27, BMS Tigers 14
The W.S. Neal Middle School boys used a 10-0 run over the first and second quarters to down Brewton 27-14 and get their second win this season—both over Brewton—to improve to 2-0 this season.
Brewton led W.S. Neal 3-0 with 4:41 left in the first quarter, but from there, W.S. Neal used a 10-0 run to lead Brewton 4-3 after one quarter of play and 10-3 with 2:48 left before the half.
Brewton would end the run with a free throw from Marcus Paul with 40.8 left in the half to cut the lead to 10-4 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal increased their lead to 22-10 heading into the fourth quarter after they doubled up the Tigers 12-6. In the quarter, Brewton cut the lead to 10-6 with 4:45 left to play in the quarter and that would be as close as they would get the rest of the game.
After W.S. Neal got up 16-8 with 2:56 left to play in the third quarter, Brewton cut the lead to 16-10 with 1:55 left. From there, W.S. Neal would end the quarter on a 6-0 run to take the 12-point lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal edged out Brewton 5-4 to get the win by 13.
Dakota Coleman led the Eagles in the win with 10 points while Kenny Walker added seven points. Keith Barksdale chipped in four points while Brandon Conway, J.T. Lane and Omar Ellington added two points each.
For the Tigers, Hayden Atkinson was the leading scorer with seven points. Jo Jo Booker and Paul had three points each while Michael Campbell had one point.
The Tigers were 6-for-13 from the free throw line in the loss while W.S. Neal was 6-for-14. Brewton was 4-for-6 from the free throw line through three quarters of play before going 2-for-7 in the fourth quarter.
