Over the years Jennie Salter has become the most constant face within the W.S. Neal High School athletic program.
Known to her girls and to most as simply &#8220Miss Jennie,” this fall was supposed to have been Salter's silver anniversary season as W.S. Neal cheerleading sponsor. Instead health issues forced her into retirement last week.
Ellis said it was because of that love Salter stayed with the program as long as she did.
The love Salter has for the W.S. Neal cheerleaders is more than a one-way street.
Hulley also regards Salter as a teacher.
W.S. Neal librarian, yearbook sponsor and close friend Mary Anne Pouncy said Salter began her tour as cheerleader sponsor as a non-staff member.
Pouncy added Salter is determined to get back.
