Violinists to perform for holiday concert

Landon Kirkland, 13, and Kandice Larrimore, 12, recently auditioned for the Escambia County Junior Youth Orchestra in Pensacola, Fla. Over 50 students auditioned for the string orchestra.
Landon Kirkland received the highest rating, first chair first violin, and will serve as the concertmaster for the Junior Orchestra.
Kandice Larrimore, his cousin, received the second highest rating, first violin second chair and earned the title of co-concert mistress.
Landon and his sister, Lauren, 14, also auditioned for the Escambia County High School Youth Orchestra. Over 100 students auditioned. Landon and Lauren both received superior ratings and were selected to perform in the advanced Beethoven group as well as the advanced “Switched On Baroque” ensemble.
Both the junior and high school orchestras are string orchestras consisting of violins, violas, cellos and bass.
They will perform in the Angel Strings Christmas Concert held at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.
