With four more years ahead of them, three Escambia County commissioners were sworn in prior to the regular commission meeting on Tuesday morning.
The three commissioners faced no opposition in the Nov. 7 election and won their seats for an additional four-year term. David Stokes, Larry White and Wiley Tait were sworn in by Tony Sanks, county administrator.
The new year also required the naming of the commission chairman for the upcoming year. White made a motion to allow Stokes to retain the position, which was seconded by Tait.
The vote of the commissioners was unanimous placing Stokes in the chairman's position for an additional year. Following a motion from Tait, seconded by Brown, Todd Williamson received approval from the commission to serve as vice-chairman for the coming year.
The commission also agreed to continue holding meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Escambia County Courthouse in the Commission Chambers. Administration meetings will be held on Thursday's prior to regular meetings.
During the regular session, commissioners agreed to approve the designation of county depositories for county funds. Those financial institutions on the list include Bank of Brewton, BankTrust, Colonial Bank, Escambia County Bank, First National Bank and Trust of Atmore, Regions Bank and United Bank.
In other business the commission gave permission to Bill Bridges, county engineer, to order replacement vehicles for the county.
A total of nine dump trucks and six motor graders will be ordered as replacements for existing vehicles in the county's fleet.
The purchase of the vehicles was approved during budget meetings held earlier this year by the commission.
