Pardon the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers basketball team if they need an introduction this season.
The names that have carried them in recent years, primarily Joy McCorvey and Jasmine Sanford, have taken their skills on to the Division I level. An inexperienced and youthful roster that includes just one returning starter and only two seniors, no juniors, six sophomores and five freshmen has replaced them.
Experience is not the only big difference for this year's Lady Tigers, who are coming off a 27-5 season from a year ago.
Another thing T.R. Miller has on its side is tradition.
T.R. Miller will probably turn to Catherine Green, a 5-4 sophomore, and Nakiya Smith, a 5-6 freshman, to run the offense at the point guard position.
and Nakiya is a pretty good jumper.”
The shooting guard spot could go one of four ways between Samantha Brown, a 5-2 senior, Ashley Williams, a 5-7 sophomore, Isha Thompson, a 5-6 freshman, and Desiree Gibbs, a 5-0 freshman.
The power forward spot will probably come from Kesha Peterson, a 5-7 sophomore, Keydra Shedrone, a 5-8 freshman, and Morgan Hubbard, a 5-9 sophomore.
The lone returning starter for T.R. Miller, a 5-9 senior Donya Grice, is slated for the center spot along with Mynetra Boley, a 5-10 sophomore.
T.R. Miller was bumped up a notch in classification to 4A this season and assigned to an Area that includes Andalusia, Hillcrest-Evergreen and archrival W.S. Neal.
