Things are supposed to get easier with repetition.
If that is true, the W.S. Neal Lady Blue Eagles basketball team is already ahead of where it has been in recent years. That is because for the first time in a while W.S. Neal will not have to be breaking in a new coach and system.
W.S. Neal is coming off a campaign where it finished 6-21 overall, 0-6 in Class 3A Area 1 play.
One thing that has not helped Lambert over the past year is his team's size. The Lady Blue Eagles have just one player 5-10 and only two at 5-9.
Versatility should on W.S. Neal's side, as many of the Lady Blue Eagles are interchangeable with their position.
Tierra Andrews, a 5-6 senior, returns at the point guard spot. Andrews came on strong offensively the second half of last season with back-to-back 29-point games against T.R. Miller and McKenzie.
Tiara Matthews, a 5-4 senior, and Freida Folmar, a 5-6 freshman, will back up Andrews at the point. Otherwise they will be in a shooting guard spot along with Ashley Alexander, a 5-4 junior.
Matthews and Alexander will also see a lot of time at the small forward spot along with Jamica Thomas, a 5-7 senior. Rachel Davis, a 5-6 sophomore, will also switch back and forth from the backcourt to a forward spot.
Katie Elliott, a 5-9 sophomore, and Jessica Smith, a 5-8 senior will help fill out the other lineup spots at power forward and center. Tekshia Jones, a 5-10 sophomore, is the tallest member on the Lady Eagles.
W.S. Neal moves up a notch in classification to 4A this year and a new Area alignment that includes T.R. Miller, Andalusia and Hillcrest-Evergreen.
