Mr. James Michael Scherer Sr., 59, of Huntsville, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at his residence. He was a native of Independence, Mo., and a resident of Madison County for the past 32 years. He was a vice-president of Teledyne Brown Engineering. He was pastor of the Community of Christ Church and served as past president and board member of the Association for Retarded Citizens “ARC” of Madison County. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Andrew Scherer; his mother, Twyla Scherer Oleksy and step-father, H. Stanley Oleksy.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Johnson Scherer; a son, James Michael (Stacie) Scherer Jr. of Huntsville; a daughter, Julia Crista Scherer of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Emma Elizabeth Scherer and James Michael Scherer III, both of Huntsville; his brothers, Mark Scherer and Thomas Oleksy, both of Independence, and Charles Olesky of Wichita, Kan.; sisters, Sandra Noffsinger of Independence and Stella Byrd of Ozark, Mo.; his in-laws, Jean and Edsel Johnson of Evergreen and 17 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church with Elder Tom Alexander officiating.
