The programs would be struggling if not for the contribution from United Fund, according to director Joey Shell.
Shell said the money received from United Fund helps to pay a little bit of everything that is necessary to make the program operate on a consistent basis.
Currently, youth who participate in the program of the East Brewton Youth Sports pay a registration fee for any sport division play. Shell said the fee paid by individuals is kept to a minimum to allow as much participation regardless of income levels.
The United Fund serves 14 member agencies in the Brewton and East Brewton area with 99 cents of each dollar raised going to those groups and organizations.
A United Fund campaign is currently underway with donations being accepted through mid-January. Any contributions to the 2007 United Fund may be sent to: United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton, P.O. Box 34, Brewton, AL 36427.
